PENDEKATAN DOUBLE MOVEMENT FAZLUR RAHMAN TERHADAP KONSEP KEADILAN EKONOMI DALAM ALQUR’AN: STUDI KONTEKSTUAL ATAS PROBLEMATIKA KEMISKINAN DI INDONESIA

Abstract

This study examines the concept of economic justice in the Qur’an through Fazlur Rahman’s double movement approach as an effort to understand and overcome poverty in Indonesia. The research focuses on the values of wealth distribution contained in Q.S. At-Taubah: 60 and Q.S. Al-Hasyr: 7 by exploring the historical context of the revelation and its relevance to contemporary social realities. The study employs a qualitative method with a contextual interpretation approach and library research analysis. The findings reveal that the Qur’an places distributive justice as a fundamental principle of Islamic economics to prevent the concentration of wealth among elite groups. In the Indonesian context, poverty is not merely caused by low income but also by structural inequality in the distribution of economic resource, oligarchic practices, and limited public access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities. Through Fazlur Rahman’s second movement, the universal moral values of the Qur’an are recontextualized into public policy reforms, strengthening zakat management, anti-monopoly regulations, and the development of community-based economic systems. This study emphasizes that Qur’anic teachings possess transformative relevance in building a more just, inclusive, and socially oriented economic system.
